Orquesta Tipica Imperial
is a group of young musicians from Buenos Aires. The Orquesta Típica Imperial retakes that particular kind of structure (three bandoneonists, three violinists, a pianist, a cellist, a double bassist, plus the voice of Iván Espeche in some of the pieces). These Argentine musicians have found in tango a music with true identity that has allowed them to stand out as interpreters, arrangers and composers. Over the past five years, the Orchestra Tipica Imperial has been performing at some of the most famous European venues (Kit Tropentheater or De Doelen, in Holland; National Palace of Culture of Sophia, in Bulgaria; or Victoria Eugenia Theater of San Sebastián, in Spain). It has also played in the most celebrated Tango Festivals of Europe and Latin America. The Orchestra Tipica Imperial has recorded three albums, La Máquina Tanguera (2003), Ruidos Molestos (2005) and Concentración Troileana (2007).
Orquesta Típica Imperial plays its own arrangements of traditional tangos (Gallo ciego, Responso, El recodo, Verano porteńo, among others) as well as its own pieces (A Salvador Allende, Feos sucios y malos, El loco milonga, El equilibrista).
They were invited to perform at the film "El último aplauso" (The last applause), directed by Germán Kral.
The concert marks the Orchestra’s Toronto debut !
Bandoneons: Matilde Vitullo, Pablo Bernaba, Nicolás Fontana.
Violins: Federico Morgan, Mariela Martins, Claudio Keller.
Piano: Gerardo Martinez Argibay.
Bass: Jano Seitun.
Cello: Damián Pais.
Singer: Iván Espeche.
